  • Mastering the almighty advertorial space ad February 7, 2012
There are basically two types of space advertising: promotional ads and advertorials. Each has its place in your marketing toolbox. However, while most copywriters and designers have at least a fair understanding of promotional ads, advertorials can pose a challenge. Designers in particular have issues with advertorials because they’re ugly. So let’s take a […]

Website Analytics

Building the perfect website is only half of the equation; website analytics is the other. If you build it, they will come. Well, once you build it, you have to measure it to see if they did. Measuring website traffic is conceptually very simple, it’s the implementation that is very, very, difficult. We can help you implement a successful web analytics program.

Objective

Essentially what you want to know is 3 things:

1) where did they come from,

2) what did they do on my site, and

3) where did they leave/go?

Implementation

So how are you going to measure that? The freebie statistics software that usually comes with any hosting account won’t tell you. It’s just numbers, statistics, that stare back at you from your monitor as you wonder what they’re trying to say.

Got a free Google Analytics account set up? Good start but an 8-year-old can do that. The challenge is not setting up a Google account or in knowing what to track (we already determined that (see above)). Now we need to determine how to track it, then how to read the results and furthermore, how to segment the data to reveal additional bits of information that we can use to improve our website ROI. There’s a lot more to it than that but the point is that setting up a Google account and/or raw statistics won’t help you much.

Options

We use Google Analytics, not because it’s free, but because it has the tools you’lll need to measure almost anything on your website. It also affords us the opportunity to measure far more than your website. We can measure your email, your SMS Text campaigns, your social media efforts and almost anything else with an electronic address. So how can we help you? We can help you in one of two ways.

Consultation

If you’re a do-it-your-selfer but don’t have the time it will take to learn to make Google Analytics sing, we can provide one-on-one training by the hour to help you set up and analyze your results. $125/hr and you only use us when you need us. 1 hour minimum, please.

Client-Basis

This option has our staff doing all of the work and putting a 1-page dashboard of results in front of you on a monthly basis. The initial consult with you determines what we’re going to track, and the monthly visit will assess what happened as well as thoughts on improvement. This program is $250/mo.

Your website can only grow your business if you know what it’s doing right and what needs improvement. That’s what website analytics is all about. Give us a call right now and one of our marketing consultants will come to you to talk about the program.
